The Great Sectional Debate

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown

I honestly don't think I've ever sourced a sectional for a client yet. Lots of pretty sofas and chairs and loveseats but no sectionals. So the world of sectionals still remains somewhat of a mystery to me.

My husband is pretty adamant that we get one for our basement. I think he he always pictured a basement with a sectional in it and his "vision' can not be compromised. I have been looking and looking and I just haven't found anything I love yet.

My top contender is the Henry Sectional from West Elm.

I really love the look of it. Of course we would be happier if we could find something a little cheaper. Some other options I've considered:

The Broyhill Abilene Sectional from Wayfair. The price on this one seems really good but I don't think I could ever buy something like this online without sitting in it first.

There is also the Ikea Ektorp Sectional. I'm not in love with the shape of the arms and I'm not sure how I feel about the slipcover but the price is good.

I also really like this Sullivan Sectional from Rowe Furniture. I'm hoping to go check it out today in person.

I would love your help and opinions. Do you know of any gems I'm missing? Any great places to buy comfortable and affordable sectionals that I don't know about?

Thanks!

Nursery Planning Begins..

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown
I hope you all had a wonderful memorial day! Ours was spent up in the mountains and believe it or not there was a little snow up there! I am looking forward to a week of warm weather and time spent up at the pool.

I am very slowly making progress on the nursery planning.

I picked up a dresser that looks pretty similar to this West Elm Dresser at the DownEast Tent Sale this week for $140! I'm planning on using it as a changing table in the nursery.

I've been having a really hard time picking the "perfect" fabric that I love to pull different colors in with. But in the meantime I stumbled across this adorable art piece from Sugarboo.

I'm envisioning it over the changing table. It might just be the piece I need to bring everything together! I'll keep you updated!

My mantra for this week.

This week we are working on potty training so excuse my blogging absence today. I am basically living in the bathroom with Jett for awhile. Yesterday was the first day and it was miserable. Today has been much better so I'm crossing my fingers that he's getting the hang of it!

DIY Easel Food Labels

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown

These food labels were one of my favorite things at the Shower. They were super easy and cheap to make. I thought I would show you the step-by-step so you could create something similar for your own shindig.

I used Clipper Script Font for the top text.

and Ostrich Sans for the bottom text.

I put them together in PowerPoint and then just did a screen print of the text I wanted.

I took that screen print image and dragged it onto a word document. Then I printed it out on cardstock.

I bought a 4-pack of mini easels at Hobby Lobby. I'm sure you could find them at any craft store. You can also buy them here. I got the pink gingham tape from cutetape.com.

After that I just used some elmers glue to adhere the paper to the easel. These are so easy to make and you could use them for almost any event!

Outdoor Baby Girl Shower

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown

Last week I helped throw a little outdoor baby shower for a good friend of mine. She's also having a baby girl. My little girl-on-the-way is going to have so many friends!

For the invitation I kept it pretty simple. I modeled the invite after this one that I loved on Pinterest.  I just made it in Powerpoint using different fun fonts.

I made this floral backdrop by basically creating a bunch of pinwheels using this tutorial. I used cardstock instead of paper which I wouldn't really recommend since it's a lot harder to fold. But since we were doing this outdoors I wanted the pinwheels to withstand the weather. It was actually a little windy so I'm really glad they were strong and secure.

I got the idea from this pin from a display done by Snow and Graham.

I already had a giant piece of black foam core which is what I hot glued the flowers to. But you could use any piece of wood and just paint it black or cover it in fabric.
(If you live in Utah my brother has some of this giant foam core for sale if you are interested in any.)

I loved these little easel food labels. I'll be posting a tutorial on how to make them tomorrow so stay tuned!

The idea for these food containers came from Michelle from 4 Men and a Lady and this post. I think my favorite thing about this idea is that you can have out large amounts of food without taking up a lot of table space.

I saw this idea on Pinterest as well from Copy Cat Chic and thought it was a great way to label the flavored water we had. I ordered a yard of this fabric to bring some color to the drink table.

This was sooo yummy.

We all had a blast eating yummy food and oohing and ahhing over all the cute baby girl gifts.

To see past baby showers I've thrown go here and here.
